CUPERTINO, California—June 19, 2008—Apple® today announced that music fans have purchased and downloaded over five billion songs from the iTunes® Store (www.itunes.com). iTunes is the number one music retailer in the US* and features the largest music catalog with over eight million songs. Are We Willing To Do what It Takes To Fix The Environment?

Starting in 1931, U.S. Sugar has been building an empire that is now the largest sugar producer in the United States. Unfortunately, that has cost the environment around the south end of Lake Okeechobee dearly. The fertilizer and pesticides used on the cane fields have caused an environmental nightmare that may never be able to be reversed. Of course, just ceasing to continue worsening the damage would be a step in the right direction but the ability to put it back or to fully restore the 187,000 acres that U.S. Sugar sits on, not to mention the damage to the surrounding area, is still very much in question.
