This past few months have been quite interesting. I have become quite a fan of the online networking site, FaceBook. It seems every day or so I find or am found by someone out of the past, people I never thought I would hear from again. People that I had completely lost contact with and had no idea where they were or what they were doing.

I was driving out by Goethe State Forest in Levy County, Florida the other day and I saw this little guy sitting in the middle of the oncoming lane. A truck had just passed a couple of seconds before, so I’m guessing he was hit.

One of the things I enjoy most is to find some old decrepit house or church somewhere, someplace that people have just walked away from, and get lost in the blurred line between civilization and nature taking back that civilization.

It always astounds me when people think of Florida as a beach state. It’s true, there are beaches all the way around it but there is so much more to Florida than just beaches.

One of my favorite places around my neck of the woods is Goethe State Forest. Its 53,000 plus acres offer such a wide range of habitats and there are so many different animals and birds to be found, that it is a place that I always recommend to people who want to see what a natural Florida is like.

You may have noticed the recent addition of a “Donation” button on the top right hand side of this blog. Let me explain, I have been trying to dress up this blog and to try some new and different things, very soon you should start seeing some of my photography on these pages. I also want to start getting more into the video side of things.

This was one of the more interesting and rewarding projects I’ve worked on in a long time so I thought I would share it.

I feel like I should be writing something about you, Jay. That’s what I do. I write to express emotion, I write to stay sane and, among other things, I write to grieve.

I’ve always wondered about the beginnings of Ground Hog Day so I decided to do some research to see what I could find. Of course, Google is god in research these days and as I didn’t fancy traveling to the library on such a rainy day as this, the internet wins out again. Long live Google.
