Abraham Lincoln Wasn’t Born in Illinois?

August 13th, 2008 · No Comments

Maybe I’m the only one that didn’t know this but today while looking through the Spring/Summer 2008 issue of the Kentucky Historical Society Chronicle, I was surprised to find that Lincoln was actually born in Kentucky. I’ve always loved history but I’ve never actually kept a lot of the specific facts straight. I guess you could chalk that up to me not being very disciplined. I read the stuff because it was interesting, not because I actually wanted to remember it.

But anyways, I thought I would share my new found wisdom and also an interesting web site, history.ky.gov/lincoln.

This site contains 60 essays on Lincoln’s life and connections to Kentucky. “A Window into Kentucky’s Abraham Lincoln”–a collection of Lincoln facts is a bunch of reading but interesting, if you like history like I do. Even if you knew that he was born in Kentucky, there is probably something here to interest you.
